Choir (SA)

Commissioned by Canterbury College (QLD), this is a vibrant setting of Henry Van Dyke's poem which celebrates the Arts.

This arrangement of my choral score "Lo, there is light!" is scored for SSSAA choir. The texts used are by Bishop Reginald Heber and A. B. (Banjo) Paterson.

"Sweet Mercy... opens in each heart a little heaven", writes the Founder of the Sisters of Mercy, Catherine McAuley. Based on her text, this SSA setting has an islander / gospel sound.

"The Dreaming Land" was commissioned by the Dept. of School Education NSW Performing Arts Unit. It comprises three songs: "Desert Dawn", "Galah Song" and "Aflow".

"Lula" was composed at the request of Alfred Music Publishers (Aust.) for inclusion in their catalogue of Aussie choral music for schools. The lyrics are very simple: Lu – la!

Commissioned by The Sydney Children's Choir in 2002, this work is a setting of Roland Robinson's striking poem about a swirling throng of desert birds taking to the sky at first light.

"Huge Earth" is big music about the awe-inspiring magnitude of the Earth, "bigger than we can possibly imagine, held together as if by string or magic". Text by Luke Davies.

Scored for a cappella SSAA choir and a quartet of chorister soloists (SSAA), "Gum Tree Country" reflects of the impact and awe-inspiring nature of the Australian bush fire.
