USA 2011

2011
Washington DC, New York City, Los Angeles

In January 2011, I flew to the USA to attend the premiere performance of my concerto for alto saxophone and band, entitled “Flying Colours”, performed by the United States Navy Band with soloist Barry Cockcroft, conducted by Captain Brian O. Waldren.
While I was there, I took the opportunity to do some sight-seeing in Washington DC., New York City and Los Angeles. Suffice to say, I had an amazing time! Here’s just a few of the one thousand photos that I took!

The White House, Washington D.C.

The Capitol, Washington D.C.

A week in LA before heading back to Sydney!

Watching the palaeontologists at work @ La Brea Tar Pits, Los Angeles, California.

A bust of Rodin, one of my favourite sculptors. By Émile Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929) @ B. Gerald Cantor Sculpture Garden.

A day at the beach: sun, surf, seagulls, skate boards and steel drums at Santa Monica.

“Temptations must be resisted”, as my piano teacher used to say. (She never said anything about fairy floss, though!)

Universal Studios, LA.

The Simpson’s Ride: If you are in LA, I highly recommend going on this ride at Universal Studios. Not so The Haunted House… I am still undergoing therapy, lol!

Disneyland, Anaheim, California.

The Mark Twain Riverboat @ Disneyland, Anaheim, LA.

With the sun setting on my US trip, I soak up my last night in the USA and get ready to head back to the land down under the next day.

I hope that you enjoy the photos!
Best wishes from Matt.
